Ji, Liwei
Postdoctoral Researcher

Education

Background

Liwei received his Ph.D. in Physics from the Institute of Theoretical Physics at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, where he studied gravitational collapse with Prof. Rong-Gen Cai. After that, he became interested in solving gravitational field equations using the finite element method and developed a continuous Galerkin solver for Einstein’s equations based on an open-source platform called PHG, under the guidance of Prof. Zhoujian Cao during his first postdoc at Beijing Normal University. He then spent his next postdoctoral period working with Prof. Wolfgang Tichy at Florida Atlantic University, focusing on developing a gravitational module for NMESH, a discontinuous Galerkin code.

His primary research interest is in the area of numerical relativity, particularly in techniques that can improve numerical code to handle more astrophysical scenarios.
