Background

I am a PhD student working at the Center for Computational Relativity and Gravitation under the supervision of Prof. Richard O'Shaughnessy. My research involves studying neutron star merger ejecta electromagnetic emission (kilonova) models using simulations of time-dependent radiation transport with matter. I make and interpolate libraries of these kilonova simulations. The resultant continuous interpolator predictions can be compared with kilonova observational data and yield inferences about the model parameters which best represent the observed event. I also develop and teach astrophysics curricula for underrepresented high-school students who I have mentored in a few-on-one setting. I am currently actively mentoring high-school and undergraduate students and preparing them for the next stage of their academic careers.  Read more on my personal page at mristic.space.
